Students of Gayle Levee Open Exhibit
submitted by Diane Simmons
As part of the Bowling Green Gallery Hop on June 2 at 5:30 p.m., a first-ever exhibit opens with a reception at Gallery TPC (The Presbyterian Church, 1003 State Street) for 15 artists studying with Gayle Leveé of Nashville's Art Plaza.
Gayle Leveé is a “third-generation artist” and student of Robert Douglas Hunter and Matt Smith. Leveé's style echoes The Boston School of Impressionism, “which emphasizes carefully planned compositions based upon accurate drawing, bold use of color, and the delightful interplay of light and shadow to create atmosphere and depth in a painting.” – www.gaylelevee.com
"I never know how the work will end. I start with the seed of an idea and see where the painting and spirit take me," said artist Becca Broughton. "For me each work is a collaboration between me, material, and imagination.”
